History

Previously people were not known about counting. Later they started to feel the importance of counting. They use different methods like sticks, pebbles etc. for counting. It was a relief for them. But they could only perform simple addition and subtraction by those methods. Later with the passage of time people began to understand the need of a machine that could help them in their day to day life calculations. Different personalities began to investigate to invent a device which would make their work easier. After much effort and with the passage of time, Abascus came into existence. With the invent of this device calculations were solved in much less time. It is still believed to be used in some parts of China and other countries of the world. After Abascus different other devices were invented like Napier's bone, Slide rule, Pascaline, Leibniz's Stepped Calculator etc. Then the concept of Analytical and Differential engine came forward. The concept of Binary system came. After that different personalities like Charles Babbage, Dr. Herman Hollerith, Dr. John Vincent Atanasoff, John W. Mauchly and many more contributed for the invention of machines like- Mark-I, ABC (Atanasoff-Berry Computer), ENIAC (Electronic Numerical Integrator And Calculator), Mark-II, EDVAC (Electronic Discrete Variable Automatic Computer), EDSAC (Electronic Delay Storage Automatic Computer).
After then various companies were established to manufacture Computers. The previous computers were called as First Generation computers, which led to the modern Fourth Generation Computers and is in the state of development of Fifth Generation Computers which will have a sort of thinking capacity.
