VIRUS

We hear a lot about Computer Viruses. Computer Virus is a program designed such that it interfaces the working of a Computer system. There are different types of computer viruses. Some of them are Trojan, Time Bomb, Logic Bomb and so on and so forth.

Viruses spreads via different means like:-

·         Email, Internet, intranet

·         Removable disks

·         Virus infected files

Some of the symptoms of Computer Virus are:-

·         Computer operates slowly.

·         Programs don’t respond.

·         Files are inaccessible.

·         Frequent error messages.

·         Files disappear and strange files appear.

·         Change of size of files.

·         Memory and disk spaces are suddenly reduced.

 ANTI VIRUS

Antivirus are Computer programs that work opposite to a Virus. They help to disinfect a Computer Virus. There are many Antivirus Software available in the market today. Some of the popular are Norton Antivirus, Kaspersky Antivirus, Quick Heal.

The safety measures that we can apply to keep out computer safe from virus are:-

v  Stop downloading of untursted files from Internet

v  Do not copy files from any removable drives unless you confirm that the drive is Virus free.

v  Do not boot your computer with a infected disk.

v  Keep backup of your files and programs.

v  Protect unauthorized use by using password.

v  Update your antivirus  time to time.
